Taipei 101
Completed in 2004, Taipei 101 is the tallest building in the world. It contains the fastest elevators in the world.
To get to Taipei 101, take the MRT (subway) to the Taipei City Hall Station. There is a free shuttle bus from the station, but you may prefer to take the 10 minute walk in order to take some photographs at a distance. Taipei 101 is much taller than other buildings in Taipei and you can't miss it.
The ride to the 89th floor observatory costs NT$350 and is worth it as long as clouds are not obscuring the top of the building.
The lower sections of Taipei 101 contain a shopping mall with a large food court.
There are two bookstores nearby with English-language books. One is inside Taipei 101 and the other is called Eslite, just a few blocks away. (The photo to the right was taken from Eslite Bookstore.)
